Grounding, Self-Care, and Emotion Regulation Resources

  • Self-Care During COVID-19 For Teens - Comprehensive Self-Care Guide (specific to COVID-19) for Teens. Good tools for coping with uncertainty, loneliness, and pandemic anxiety

  • You Feel Like Sh*t - A Self-Care Game - Really great interactive guide to self-care. This will walk you through a series of questions to help figure out what kind of self-care you need. Highly recommend when you are feeling "meh" but don't know exactly what you need.

  • Box Breathing - Quick 2 minute video that walks you through a simple grounding exercise. Useful when feeling overwhelmed, panicky, or out of touch with the present.

Supporting a Friend

  • BeThere.Org - a website that outlines the "5 Golden Rules" of checking in with a friend you are worried about

  • Seize The Awkward - a useful companion to BeThere, Seize the Awkward offers helpful videos and tips for starting the (sometimes awkward) conversation when you are worried about a friend.

  • Jed Foundation Guides - The Jed Foundation has several "what to do if" guides to help you navigate many different scenarios in which you are worried about a friend, a loved one, or yourself. Includes guides for helping a friend who might be suicidal, helping someone with depression or anxiety, what to do if a friend won't accept support, and more.
